NORFOLK WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Below, I have listed numerous frequently asked questions and answers that I often hear from enquiring couples. If you have a question that has not been listed below, please get in touch!

Absolutely. I have public liability and professional indemnity insurance. Sometimes venues want proof of suppliers insurance, so just let me know and I can provide a certificate.

8 years now! I began photographing weddings in 2016 after working in London as an assistant for fashion photographer, Alexi Lubomirski (Meghan and Harry’s wedding photographer!)

Touch wood this has never happened to me however it has happened to my fellow photographer/ videographer peers and I have been the one to cover.

We are so lucky that there is a huge group of talented photographers in Norfolk, UK. Ideally, I would look for an associate (someone to shoot the wedding so I could then edit the photos.)

Unfortunately I cannot provide a contingency plan until it happens however I am extremely confident that I would be able to source a photographer to cover (even if it is last minute.)

Yes! I cover the whole of UK, Europe and the rest of the world.

You can find more information regarding my pricing via my UK wedding pricing page and Destination pricing page. An additional fee will occur if your wedding is over 150 miles from NR17.

If you are getting married outside of the UK and Europe please fill in my enquiry form via my enquiry page so I can provide you with a bespoke quote.

My pre-wedding shoots are optional however I highly recommend having one for numerous reasons:

  1. If you are nervous or feel awkward about having your photo taken, a pre-wedding shoot will help you relax and gain confidence in yourself and each other that it is actually fine and a pleasant experience!
  2. You wont faff around feeling awkward on the day of your wedding! Couples often feel uncomfortable and unsure during the first 10-20 minutes of the shoot. If you have a pre-wedding shoot you will hopefully get straight into couple photos on your wedding day with confidence and ease!
  3. You will get some lovely non-wedding portraits of you both! If you have children or a dog you can involve them too!

For more information regarding pre-wedding photos please visit my couples page.

Yes! I offer 2 or 3 day wedding packages. These start from £5000.00. This is ideal if you are looking to host a pre-wedding party the day before your wedding day and/ or a relaxed get together or another party the day after your wedding.

For multiple day wedding coverage I do require accommodation. Please get in touch for more information.

For all information regarding the booking process please visit my what to expect page. This covers everything from your initial enquiry to receiving your photos!

Your date isn’t 100% secured unless you have paid an invoice and signed a contract.

Paper circle confetti!

That being said, there is no right or wrong and some venues only allow natural petal confetti. I personally find that paper confetti results in much, much better confetti photos as you don’t need as much and it floats in the air for a long time. If you have a look on Pinterest for ‘epic confetti photos’ you will see that they all feature paper confetti.

You can purchase paper confetti from Confetti Bee, Proper Confetti and Flutter Darlings. All of their paper confetti is biodegradable and they also offer multiple colours (I personally love multi-coloured however you could have a mix of two colours or go for the one to keep it simple!)

Flower petals can be beautiful however you need your guests to have HANDFULS. For this reason I suggest putting it all in a wicker basket so guests can easily grab hold of a decent amount instead of small separate paper bags. I highly recommend that you purchase freeze dried petals as they hold their colour. If you dry your own petals you will most probably find that they turn brown or yellow. I also advise that you invest in buying larger petal confetti (rose and/ or hydrangera petals) as they will show a lot better on camera and won’t turn to dust so will be a lot more pleasant for when you are walking through it!

For both paper confetti and petal confetti I really do not like the paper bags as a) they only allow guests to have a tiny amount and b) a lot of the bags end up littering the venue as guests don’t have anywhere to put them once the confetti has finished. A basket works best as bridesmaids, flowergirls, pageboys or groomsmen can quickly walk down the confetti lines taking up less time and it is easier for guests also.

Yes! I offer smaller packages whether that’s a half day or hourly. For all information regarding pricing, please visit my UK wedding pricing page.

FYI, I do not offer small packages for weekend dates ranging from May – October. However, please do enquire in case I have last minute availability.

My approach is laid back however I will give you advice on how to get the most out of your photos whether that’s timings, light or ideas on your timeline.

I strive to document your wedding through a relaxed approach which will enable your photos to ‘tell the story’ of your day.

My editing style is warm, colourful and soft (enhanced saturation and warmth.)

I offer couples a total of 15 x group/ formal photos. This is quite a high number and can feel long and therefore stressful (guests not listening, disappearing for a walk etc. etc.)

If you want to stay present during your day I would advise a small selection of group photos. The rest can then be completely natural!

It is more than likely that you have envisioned beautiful weather for your wedding day however the weather can be extremely unpredictable (even during the height of Summer!) It can be extremely stressful trying to plan for all weather scenarios however so long as you have a couple of umbrellas, a change of shoes and a layer to put over yourself to keep you warm, the rain won’t affect your wedding photos.

Overcast (cloudy) weather provides ideal light for photos as it is soft and even. If it is incredibly sunny, the light can be very harsh and unflattering (if this is the case I will advise you to have your formal and couple photos either in the shade or later on in the day/ evening when the sun is lower in the sky.)

Whatever the weather, so long as you are not letting it get to you emotionally you will still have the loveliest photos!

You will receive a selection of previews 2-3 days after your wedding day* via a private online gallery.

The full gallery of photos will be delivered around 6-8 weeks after the date of your wedding. The wedding season is at it’s peak during the months of June, July, August and September. The turnaround time may increase for the latter months due to the amount of weddings I shoot during the peak months.

*If I am shooting back to back weddings, the turnaround time for previews may increase due to limited time spent in the office editing.

I love any venue with lots of natural light, character and a team of super friendly and professional coordinators! We are so blessed to have such a large portfolio of prestigious wedding venues in Norfolk and Suffolk. A few of my favourite local wedding venues are Godwick Hall, Oxnead Hall, Shotesham Park, Butley Priory and Pentney Abbey.

Norfolk/ Suffolk venues that I would love to shoot at are Wilderness Reserve (Sibton Park,) Holkham Hall, Hengrave Hall, Somerleyton Hall and Sennowe Park. All are incredibly beautiful and would suit my style and approach to wedding photography!

My favourite style of wedding to capture is an outdoor garden/ farm marquee wedding! I just love the relaxed feel and open plan of it all! Myself and now husband planned and hosted a garden marquee wedding in 2023 and it was so personal, relaxed and fun!

Golden hour is the hour before sunset when the sun is low in the sky giving off an incredibly warm hue and soft light! If you are lucky to have a sunny evening with little or no cloud, you should definitely make the most of it! I personally love to shoot couple portraits at this time as well as fun bridal party portraits!

For more information regarding golden hour timings, you can find more information via my blog post Golden Hour Guide.

This is always a bit of a ‘tabboo’ subject and for someone who thinks of themself as a ‘people pleaser’ I find this a very hard question to answer.

If I am shooting your full-day wedding (around 10 – 12 hours) I do kindly request a meal. It is often something that is arranged with your venue or caterer and I am usually served after you and your guests have had your mains. A single main is more than enough and will keep me energised for the rest of your day and night! I realise that this is an incredibly ‘diva’ sounding subject and as I said above, it makes me feel incredibly awkward however my job can be very physical and the hours are long. Photographers often forget or don’t have time to eat snacks or stay hydrated so a break for food when you have your wedding breakfast is definitely needed, especially during the hot weather months!

If you have booked a half day package, of course you do not have to provide me with a meal!

To make things a bit easier, I don’t have any dietary requirements nor allergies.

I will never send over my RAW files.

The term ‘RAW files’ refers to a file format that comes straight out of a digital camera.. RAW files do not accurately represent my intended final product. By giving out raw files, I will risk my work being altered, misused, or shared without permission. A similar example would be someone taking a director’s cut and releasing it without their permission.

My edit is 50% of my work. It is what differentiates me from other photographers. When you book me to document your day you are booking me for my professional service, creative approach and aesthetic image style.

I shoot with 2 x Sony A9ii bodies and a range of Song GM prime lenses. I work with both cameras (I wear a harness that allows my cameras to hang beside me so I can easily switch between the two.)

My cameras are shutterless which means they are incredible sharp, quick and silent – perfect for ceremonies!

I work with on camera flashes if your venue is dark and on the dancefloor.

I am purely a photographer so I only shoot stills. If you require footage of your day I would recommend hiring a videographer or content creator. You can find recommendations for both here.

  1. Plan a day that reflects you and your wife/ husband to be! It is so hard to not feel pressurised into making decisions that suit your family members. Remember that the wedding industry has changed for the better compared to 30 years ago – traditional weddings aren’t the only option anymore! Pinterest and Instagram are brilliant for ideas (just be aware of realistic budgets when you are pinning examples to your inspo board!)
  2. Work out a timeline for your day! It might feel like a military operation however the more organised you are the more relaxed your day will be as everything will flow smoothly. I will send out a questionnaire a month before your wedding asking for all of the timings so that I am prepped on the day when it comes to the photography! Most of your suppliers will guide you when it comes to deciding timings.
  3. Enjoy your day! It goes so quickly so try hard not to let anything get you down! You will be surrounded by the most important people in your life whilst you get to declare the love you have for the most important person in your life! If you are happy, excited and enthusiastic you will create the best photos! I realise that weddings take ALOT of planning and therefore come with a lot of stress however, it is so important that you let go of all of the worry and just enjoy the day. Not everything goes smoothly and often there are moments where it might feel as though its a bit too much and you might feel a little overwhelmed. If that is the case, take yourself away for a moment to have a breather – it can be a lot, especially if you arent used to being the centre of attention!
